Xiaomi unveiled its budget smartphone Android 9 Pie.
A couple of Redmi Note 5 Pro phones were spotted running Android 9 on Geekbench today. This means that one might soon witness the latest Android OS on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. This would be the second major Android OS update for the phone which isn’t very common for Xiaomi phones. Additionally, the Redmi Note 5 too was seen running the latest Android Pie OS.
In addition to the Snapdragon 636 version of the Redmi Note 5 pro, a Snapdragon 660 SoC version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro have also been spotted on the benchmarking website. Both the Redmi Note 5/Note 5 pro and even its successor Redmi Note 6 pro run on Snapdragon 636 chipset, so this version with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC is a first of its kind. But we’re not sure if this is a new variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro or some other Xiaomi phone.
Possibilities of it either being the Mi A2 or the Mi 8 Lite which come with Snapdragon 660 are high. Chances of it being the Mi 8 Lite are higher than Mi A2 because Xiaomi has recently upgraded the Mi A2 to Android 9 Pie.
As for the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99-inch display with 1080×2160 pixels resolution, and a 77.4 percent of screen-to-body ratio. It sports a dual rear camera setup, comprising of a 12-megapixel camera with a f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel f/2.0 sensor. The setup is accompanied by a dual-LED flash module. There is a 20-megapixel front shooter with a f/2.2 aperture, assisted by a LED flash. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.
